Ruth Ann Ormsby, 86-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Sunday, April 27, 2025. She was born May 31, 1938, in Mineral Point, MO, to the late Howard Raymond and Ada Ruth “Elsey” (Miller) Waller.
Ruth dedicated her professional life to helping others, working as a clerk and stenographer with the Division of Family Services until her retirement in 1995. Her service extended beyond her career and into her involvement with her faith and church family. A devoted member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Oxly, MO, Ruth served as the church pianist and taught the youth Sunday School class. These are roles she embraced with great care and joy.
On December 28, 1957, Ruth married Boyce Melvin Ormsby in Potosi, MO. Eight years later, in 1965, the couple decided to move and make their home in Boyce’s home county, Ripley County. Boyce preceded her in death on April 27, 2023, marking exactly two years to the day of Ruth’s own passing.
Ruth is lovingly remembered by her foster daughters, Helen Marie (Heath) Karber and husband, Scotty, of Batesville, AR and Maude Ann (Heath) Carter and husband, Robert Leland, of Conway, AR; a sister, Mary Lou Micke of Potosi, MO; and a brother, Howard Eugene Waller of Greenbrier, TN; and brother-in-law, Bill Ormsby of Neelyville, MO. Also surviving are her foster grandchildren, Julie, Jennifer, Jordan, and Carissa, and seven foster great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 2, 2025, beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Antioch Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
