Sharon Kay Sillyman

Sharon Kay Sillyman, 78, of Houston passed away on April 23, 2026. Sharon was born on July 31, 1947, in Green Mountain, IA to Ford and Edna Hays.

Sharon graduated from Houston High School in 1966. She was the editor of Piney MO yearbook in 1965-1966 during her senior year. She married Doyle Sillyman on February 5, 1981. Sharon grew up attending Oakdale Church and was baptized at a young age. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church; she attended for several years and loved her church family.

Throughout her lifetime, Sharon worked at the HorseShoe Drive-In, Payless Dime Store, Brown Shoe Company (as the Floor Lady Supervisor) and the Southern Inn Restaurant. For the past thirty years, Sharon worked at D & L Florist with her daughter, Shari. She loved working at the flower shop.

Since 2000, Sharon was a board member of the Miss Texas County Pageant. Sharon was an Alderwoman for the City of Houston from April 2009-September 2013. She served on the Houston Chamber of Commerce Board from 2019-2021. Sharon was also a member of the Houston Housing Authority Board from 2019-2026. She was a member of the Yaya’s Sisters, Rebekah Lodge, and the Lions Club.

Sharon and Doyle loved riding motorcycles in their younger years. They restored a 1967 Fairlane Car convertible. Sharon loved to send cards to her family and friends for their birthdays and holidays. She adored spending time with the Yaya Sisters. Sharon loved fundraising for the Miss Texas County Pageant and Good Neighbor Day, started by D & L Florist. She also loved attending the Miss Missouri Pageant, you’d find her cheering on the Miss Texas County and Southern Missouri girls. She was so proud when those two girls won state titles! Sharon loved her ice cream! When she and Shari went anywhere, they always stopped for ice cream.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Shari McCallister (Donald) of Houston, MO; step-daughter, Brenda Weber (Les) of Maple Lake, MN; and step-son, Clint Sillyman (Joni) of Houston, MO; sister, Clara May Jones of Houston, MO; grandchildren Zach and Shanna Nordling of Monticello, MN, Sean and Abby Anderson of Otsego, MN, and Kyle Weber of Monticello, MN; great grandchildren, Axle and Dash Nordling of Monticello, MN, Calvin, Mila, and Baker Anderson of Otsego, MN, and Isaiah Tobias and Evangeline Weber of Monticello, MN; sisters-in-law, Anna Belle Ward and Vera Epperson of Houston, MO and Sandy Sillyman of Fair Grove, MO; brother-in-law, Jerry Sillyman of Cabool; nieces and nephews, Lannie and Virginia Crawford, Lloyd and Elizabeth Jones, Diana Hill, Jim and Glenda Jones, Bob and Janet Edwards, and Connie DeToni; along with numerous great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Sillyman; parents, Ford and Edna Hays; and brothers-in-law, Dale Jones, Charles Ward, Delmar Sillyman, Dale Sillyman, and Keith Sillyman.

Sharon has had some very special caregivers during her last few years, Alicia, Kristi, Diana, and her dear son-in-law, Donald.

Memorial contributions in Sharon’s name may be made to the Miss Texas County Scholarship Fund, TCMH-Hospice of Care, or Oakdale Cemetery.
