Tom William Carr

Tom William Carr, 76 of Cabool, Missouri departed this world on December 8, 2021 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.  He was born on June 14, 1945 in San Diego, California to Joe and Mary Carr.

Tom married Priscila Flores on January 31, 1969 in San Diego, California.  He was certified as journeyman plumber, and started his career in the civil service at San Diego Naval Base. Tom moved his family to Cabool, Missouri in 1979, and became a staple of the community.  For many years he operated Carr Plumbing as well as worked in various positions for the Cabool School District.  He was passionate about outdoor activities and served as the Cub Master for Cabool’s Cub Scout Pack 56 and later as Scoutmaster for Cabool’s Boy Scout Troop 56.  He enjoyed horses, cowboy lore, a good mystery story, and leather craft.   He was active in the Cabool Christian Church.  He loved being a grandfather to Tully and Jocelyn. Most notably, Tom loved bike riding.  He rode his bicycle the entire length of the Katy Trail five times, was active in the West Plains Regional Bicycle Club, and daily rode at the Piney River Recreational Area.  His personal love for cycling and bicycle repair also spurred the donation of hundreds of bicycles to the Show Me Christian Youth Home based on his belief that, “Every kid should have a good bike to ride.”
