Corine Callie Shafer

Corine Callie Shafer, the daughter of John L and Ruby May (Howard) Gale, was born March 6, 1932, at Abernathy, Texas. She passed away at Houston House in Houston, Missouri on March 7, 2026 making her 94 years and 1 day.

Corine was united in marriage to Edward Shafer on October 11. 1957. She brought two children, Jack and Shirly Killough to their union, and together they had two children, Randy and Daryl Shafer.

Corine grew up in Texas and Arkansas and was baptized in 1975. She worked at Boeing, where she met the love of her life Ed, and they laid roots in Summersville, MO. Together, they worked the family farm, operated several businesses, and built the life they always wanted.

Corine also had a passion for nursing and was a nurse for Doc Hampton for 14 years. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, restoring old items, and making them look new again and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading her bible and made it her personal mission to know it inside and out. She was also the go-to for a secret set of stitches.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Gayle; 1 daughter, Shirly Spears; 1 grandchild, Rickey McCarley; 1 brother, Robert Gale; 2 sisters, Claudine Dillard and Barbara McCarley; Father and Mother-in-law, Kenneth and Mable Shafer, and 1 brother-in-law, Harold Shafer.

Corine is survived by her husband, Edward Shafer; son, Jack (Loeta) Killough; son, Randy (Jodi) Shafer; son, Daryl (Jackie) Shafer; grandchildren, Jennifer, Mandy. John, Randall, Bradley ( Charley Boy), Brett, Melissa, Callie, and Aaron, as well as 16 great-grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
