Cardinals 5, Phillies 4

Nolan Gorman drove in the game-winning run in the top of the 10th to help the Cardinals avoid a sweep against the Phillies. St. Louis defeated Philadelphia 5-4 in a ten-inning contest at Citizens Bank Park. Gorman hit a two-run homer in the first inning and an RBI single in the 10th to lead the Cardinals to victory. Alec Burleson hit his sixth homer of the year on a two-run shot in the third. John King won in relief, while Ryan Helsley recorded his 19th save. St. Louis is second in the NL Central at 28-and-29. The Cardinals are in Houston tonight to face the Astros and Justin Verlander
