Astros 4, Royals 3
Kansas City fell to the Houston Astros 4-3 in the final game of a three-game set. Maikel Garcia hit his fifth homer of the year on a solo shot in the second inning. Starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen was charged with his fourth loss after allowing four runs in just over seven innings. The Royals have lost four of five to sit at 25-and-20. The Royals host the Cardinals tomorrow.
Cardinals split DH with Phillies
The St. Louis Cardinals went 1-and-1 against the Philadelphia Phillies in a double-header from Citizens Bank Park. The Cardinals had their nine-game winning streak snapped with a 2-1 loss in game one. Steven Matz surrendered two runs in the seventh and was charged with the loss in relief. St. Louis launched three home runs during a 14-7 win in the second game. Lars Nootbaar, Alec Burleson, and Masyn Winn all went deep, while Chris Roycroft picked up the win out of the bullpen. The Cardinals fell behind 5-1 after the first inning. The Cardinals are in second place in the NL Central at 24-and-20. They take on the Royals tomorrow night.
