Texas County Memorial Hospital Honors Nurses During National Week, Tara Scott Receives DAISY Award

Texas County Memorial Hospital (TCMH) honored its 115 nurses during National Nurses’ Week, held May 5–9, with a weeklong celebration of events and special recognitions, culminating in the presentation of the prestigious DAISY Award.

Each year, Nurses’ Week at TCMH shines a spotlight on the critical work nurses perform in departments including medical-surgical, obstetrics, emergency, intensive care, surgery, home health, hospice, and clinics. From nacho and coffee bars to a midweek poker run and snack stations, nurse managers organized a festive series of events to show appreciation for the hospital’s frontline caregivers.

The week concluded with a DAISY Award ceremony and cinnamon roll breakfast on Friday, May 9. The DAISY Award—an international recognition program founded by the family of J. Patrick Barnes—honors nurses for extraordinary, compassionate care.

This spring’s DAISY Award recipient was Tara Scott, an ICU nurse from Cabool, who joined TCMH two years ago. Scott was nominated by a grateful patient named Kathryn, who described Scott as “an angel of a nurse” whose care, humor, and compassion made a lasting impact during a difficult hospitalization.
