The Liberty Eagles powered past Ellington in a hard-fought varsity volleyball match Thursday night, claiming a 3-1 victory with set scores of 25-12, 25-23, 21-25, and 26-24.
Jayli Tharp led the offensive attack with an impressive 17 kills, while Kelbie Smith dominated from the service line with 4 aces. On the defensive side, Natalie Hunter, Darra Daniels, and Delani Ellett each tallied 3 blocks, helping to hold off Ellington’s late surges. Kinsey Shoup anchored the back row with 19 digs, and Jordyn Tune ran the offense efficiently, racking up 31 assists.
In the JV matchup, Liberty also came out on top in a pair of nail-biters, winning 31-29 and 26-24. Quincey Chowning paced the Eagles with 9 kills.
Next up: Liberty returns home for Senior Night, the final home game of the season, and Future Liberty Eagles Night on Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Salem.
