Mountain View Birch Tree School District Takes Stance on Nontraditional Sports Participation

MOUNTAIN VIEW, MISSOURI- Since the passing of Senate Bill 63, many Missouri schools such as the Mountain View Birch Tree School District are embracing the changes that come with the bill.

Effective on August 28th; SB 63 ensures that a school district or charter school will not prohibit non-traditional instruction such as homeschooling, FPE, or virtual learning from participating in Sports or electives.

Mountain View Birch-Tree Athletic director, J.C Hoagland says, “We also want to make sure that our coaches, directors, and sponsors have the necessary tools.” During a meeting at Liberty High School on Thursday, July 31st, Hoagland hit on several key points including;

-The district’s current attendance & performance policies.

-The preclusion of both attendance & disciplinary action.

-Students only participating in their residing school district.

Athletic practices in the Mountain View-Birch Tree District began on Monday, August 11th.
