Nationals Outlast Royals in Late-Inning Battle

Daylen Lile’s two-out hit in the ninth pushed Washington past Kansas City 8-7 Wednesday. After the Royals tied it in the eighth, Luis García Jr. doubled and came home on Lile’s single to right for the go-ahead run off Royals closer Carlos Estévez.

Washington jumped out early with a five-run first, capped by Nathaniel Lowe’s grand slam against Royals starter Seth Lugo who was tagged for seven runs on six hits in four innings.

Vinnie Pasquantino homered again for the Royals and drove in four runs total.

Noah Cameron (6-5, 2.52) starts a homestand Friday against White Sox.
