Ava won the tip to start the ball game but it was turned over by Willow and immediately made a three to go up 3-0 to start the game. A timeout was immediately called after by Ava, which was peculiar since the game just started. The bears then shot cold for a lot of the first quarter, just not seeming to get a shot to go in. Ava started their offense by getting a couple of stops and some quick buckets to take the lead. Ava had trouble with fouling sending Willow to the line multiple times in the first quarter. Ava took the lead at the end of the 1st quarter with the score 13-12. The second quarter started with Ava scoring on back-to-back possessions to increase their lead. Willow struggled to find a rhythm because of Ava’s impressive defense. Willow also struggled to stop Ava’s offense. But Willow started to fight back after a timeout from Willow to get the intensity up. The halftime score was 25-23, with Ava still taking the lead, but Willow close behind.
The second half started with 4 quick points from Willow, showing lots of energy coming out of the locker room. Ava did a really good job rebounding in this game, it seemed every rebound came to them, which helped them maintain their lead. Willow did make some great offensive plays to close the scoring gap between them. The 3rd quarter ended 36-35 with Willow gaining the lead back. The 4th quarter started with ava, scoring a nice bucket to regain their lead immediately. But willow came back and stole the lead again, making the game extremely close nearing the end of the game. Willow maintained their lead throughout most of the 4th quarter, controlling the ball well. The game came down to the wire with a very close score between both teams. Ava tied it up at the last second to take it to overtime.
Ava came into overtime scoring strong to take the lead. Ava slowed down and tried to play possession to win the game without Willow scoring. Willow tied it up but Ava came right back to take the lead again. Willow missed multiple shots to try and tie it back up. The final score was 58-53, with Ava taking the win.
