West Plains, MO. – A West Plains man is facing multiple felony charges following a road rage incident involving a firearm on Monday morning.
James Grant Fish is charged with 1st-degree harassment and unlawful use of a weapon – exhibiting for an incident that occurred at 8:23 a.m. on US 63 in Pomona.
According to the probable cause statement, the suspect aggressively approached a semi-truck, screaming, and climbed onto the truck to further scream at the driver through the driver’s side window. The truck driver said Fish was upset due to a supposed traffic violation that could have caused an accident.
Fish is then said to have retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and returned to harass the driver.
The driver had taken a video of the incident, that Howell County Sherriff’s deputies viewed, showing Fish making physical contact with the driver on multiple occasions and Fish ignoring the driver’s request to back away from him. Fish ignored the driver’s request and stated he had a firearm and would use it if the driver approached him in a threatening manner. The latter statements were also made while Fish was on the phone with 9-1-1 operators.
Another witness was at the scene and interviewed by law enforcement. The unnamed witness had given the suspect the phone he used to call 9-1-1 and corroborated the details of the incident.
The handgun was collected from Fish’s vehicle and he was placed under arrest. The suspect was held at the Howell County Detention Center and released on a $25,000 surety bond on June 21 according to online court documents.
