Elwood Leroy Lakey, 86 years, 1 month, 25 days old, passed away on June 10, 2025, at his home.
Elwood was born April 16, 1939, in Cold Springs, Missouri to Guy Eli and Lola (Hutchison) Lakey.
He was a Veteran having served in the United States Army.
Elwood and Judy Wood were united in marriage on September 2, 1966, in Ava, Missouri. Together they had two children, Gary and Melinda.
He was saved at an early age in a revival Girdner church and was baptised. He was a member of Seymour Church of the Nazarene. Elwood enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working with his cattle. He loved beans and fried potatoes with raisin pie for dessert.
Elwood was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy; siblings, Marian Smith, Louisa Porter, Basil Lakey, Darrell Lakey, Harold Lakey, and Narvel Lakey.
He is survived by children and their spouses, Gary and Tammy Lakey, and Melinda and James Souder; grandchildren, Payton and Chris Odehnal, Josh and Kaelan Lakey, Megan and Brady Ward , Jacob Lakey, Brittnie and Seth Lacy, Kymberlee and Devin Myers, Haylee and Austin Rambo; great grandchildren, Jon, Quinnlee, Blake, Cameron, Sadie, Parker, and Bridger; brother, Marvin and Jean Lakey, and sister, Sue Porter.
Graveside services for Elwood will be Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Ava cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. Paul Pritchard. Memorials may be made to Preach Ministries or The Gideons International.
