The Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce is bringing back one of its most popular community events—the “I Ran From the Cops” 5K—now with a new date to encourage greater participation.
Traditionally held on July 4, the race will now take place on Saturday, September 13, at Palenske Field. Check-in begins at 7:00 a.m., with the race starting promptly at 8:00 a.m. The date change comes in response to past challenges with high temperatures and early start times limiting turnout.
This lighthearted fundraiser benefits the Willow Springs Police Department and features a scenic 5K route along with a 1-mile walking path for those who prefer a more relaxed pace.
Registration is $30 and includes a commemorative backpack filled with goodies. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each of the following age divisions for both male and female participants: 12 & under, 13–15, 16–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, and 50+.
