Snow to Begin Arriving Tonight; Latest Information on Winter Storm

The National Weather Service in Springfield has released their latest weather information packet on the upcoming storm, and predictions put the arrival of the first bout of snow tonight between 11pm to 4am for the listening area.

Current predictions from the NWS state that overall volume will likely land between 7 to 11 inches for most of the area. However, those along the Arkansas/Missouri border will have to watch out for sleet that will likely mix in between the first and second waves of winter weather.

The probability of major travel impacts across the listening area also remain relatively high, settling between 40% to 60%. Those who have not prepared for the upcoming weather shift should make sure to do so before the snow begins in earnest tonight.

Negative temperatures remain a concern for the weekend as well, especially as windchills could cause some places such as West Plains to receive “feels like” temperatures of around -14. This could cause danger for those who travel out with exposed skin, and could also lead to frozen water pipes.
