Rex is survived by his wife, Stephanie (Cloven) Dow; his daughters, Jessica Dow of North Carolina and Sydney (Sam) of North Carolina; and their mother, Holly Dykes of North Carolina. He was eagerly anticipating the birth of his first grandchild, as Sydney and Sam are expecting. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter, Chelsea Cloven (fiancé Malcolm Bridges); his special boys, River Neal, Ramzi Schafer, Greyson Corey, and Reed Corey, who each held a meaningful place in his heart; his brother, Rusty Dow of West Plains; his sister, Lanna Tharp (Allen) of Mountain View; his mother-in-law, Fern Cloven; his sister-in-law, Kim Walker (Norm); his brother-in-law, Chris Cloven; and his nieces and nephews, Megan Walker (David), Hannah Granger (Jonathan), Logan Walker, Christopher Cloven, Jack Cloven, Mason Tharp, and Nicholas Tharp.

One of the greatest constants in Rex’s life was his lifelong best friend, Marv Nicholson. Friends since the age of five, their bond endured through every chapter of life.

Rex worked at FCC Behavioral Health, where he loved serving others. In his role, he transported individuals who were in recovery, offering not just a ride, but often encouragement, understanding, and steady support along the way.

The legacy Rex leaves behind is not one of perfection, but of grace — a reminder that God’s mercy is greater than our mistakes and His love never fails. Those who loved him will carry forward the hope that, through faith, every story can find redemption.
