Marion County Man Arrested on Multiple Felony Charges, Including Attempted Murder

Yellville, AR – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Jimmy R. Jones, 75, of Yellville, following an incident involving an alleged shooting in northern Marion County. Jones has been charged with one count of Criminal Attempt to Commit First Degree Murder (Class A Felony), one count of Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle in the Second Degree (Class B Felony), and one count of Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons (Class B Felony).

According to a press release issued by Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander, the incident occurred on May 6, 2025, along Marion County Road 8042. The victim reported that she stopped to check on Jones, who was parked in the roadway. When she inquired if he was okay, Jones allegedly responded by pointing a handgun at her. The victim immediately fled the scene in her vehicle, during which she heard at least two gunshots.

The victim further reported that Jones followed her for a short distance before turning onto another road. Following the incident, Marion County deputies responded to the scene and later received a report of a vehicle crash near Marion County Road 3530. Deputies located Jones’s vehicle at the crash site and recovered a firearm from the vehicle. However, Jones was not initially located.

The victim was able to identify Jones as the individual who fired at her and confirmed that the vehicle found was the same one Jones had been driving. On May 8, 2025, deputies located and arrested Jones. He was booked into the Marion County Detention Center, with his bond set at $50,000.

Sheriff Alexander has confirmed that the investigation remains active, and no further details have been released at this time.
