Press Release from the Oregon County Sheriff’s Department:
On December 30, 2025, the Oregon County Sheriff’s Office received a report from an Alton resident who stated he had discovered a body in a pond located on his property.
Responding deputies confirmed the presence of a deceased individual in the pond. The individual appeared to be an elderly female. A preliminary identification has been made; however, the identity of the deceased will not be released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
At this time, no foul play is suspected. The incident remains under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Oregon County Coroner’s Office, and the Oregon County Sheriff’s Office to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
