On September 8, 2025, at approximately 10:09 p.m., Deputy Michael Pauly of the Howell County Sheriff’s Office, while responding to a call on County Road 3280 in Willow Springs, observed a dark-colored motorcycle traveling on County Road 3280. Shortly thereafter, Willow Springs Police Officer Turnbull flagged down Deputy Pauly, advising that the motorcycle had failed to stop for him.
As Deputy Pauly arrived at the scene, he witnessed the motorcycle nearly collide with the rear of an ambulance. The driver, later identified as Jackie Morgan, age 50, lost his balance multiple times, eventually falling into a nearby police vehicle and his own motorcycle.
Upon contact, Deputy Pauly detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Morgan. Additional observations included slurred speech, watery and bloodshot eyes, and unsteady movements. Based on these factors and Morgan’s erratic behavior, he was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.
Morgan was transported to the Willow Springs Police Department to complete the processing and to get a Blood Alcohol Content reading. However, after beginning the process, Morgan refused to complete the test. He was issued a citation for DWI.
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that impaired driving places lives at risk, including those of first responders and emergency medical personnel. Citizens are urged to plan ahead, designate a sober driver, or use alternative transportation if consuming alcohol.
