Missouri WIC Launches New Benefits Card with Real-Time Access for Participants

As of May 1, participants in Missouri’s WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program have access to a newly launched benefits card, designed to streamline the process of obtaining nutritious food and services through authorized WIC retailers.

The updated card brings the Missouri WIC program into real-time processing, offering numerous benefits for families, local WIC agencies, and retailers. With the new system, participants can now track their food benefits instantly using the WICShopper app or by contacting their local agency. This innovation reduces the need for in-person clinic visits solely for benefit issuance.

Local agencies also gain flexibility, with the ability to issue, substitute, or modify food benefits throughout the month. For retailers, the real-time technology ensures automatic processing of WIC transactions and faster reimbursements—supporting both business operations and customer service for WIC families.

To support the rollout, Missouri WIC has released a YouTube video series in English and Spanish on the HealthyLivingMo channel, offering guidance on how to use the new card and access available benefits.

The Missouri WIC program provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and a food package tailored to include essential nutrients such as iron, calcium, and vitamins A, C, and D. Eligible foods include fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, whole grains, milk, yogurt, and more.

To qualify, individuals must be pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, infants up to age one, or children under age five, and meet Missouri residency and income requirements. More information is available at WIC.Mo.Gov or by calling TEL-LINK at 1-800-835-5465.
