MSHP Arrests Colorado Fugitive

A routine traffic stop on US 60 east of Willow Springs led to the arrest of a Colorado fugitive wanted on a felony warrant for Failure to Appear on an Assault charge.

Missouri State Highway Patrol traveling westbound on US 60 observed a blue SUV speeding eastbound at 91 mph in a posted 65 mph zone. The deputy initiated a traffic stop after the vehicle veered onto the shoulder near the north junction of Willow Springs.

Upon contact, the driver identified himself as 41-year-old Nathan Ryan Boomsliter and presented a Colorado identification card. During the stop, Boomsliter admitted his driving privileges were revoked. A computer check confirmed his license was indeed revoked in Colorado, and the vehicle’s plates were expired and not on file.

Further investigation revealed Boomsliter had an active felony warrant issued by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado for Failure to Appear related to an assault charge. The warrant was verified, and Boomsliter was taken into custody without incident. He was handcuffed, secured in the patrol vehicle, and transported to the Howell County Sheriff’s Department for booking.

The incident and arrest were captured on the deputy’s in-car video system. Boomsliter now faces extradition proceedings in addition to potential local charges related to traffic violations and driving while revoked.
