Prescribed Burn to Happen in Shannon County

Shannon County, MO. – If you see fire around Highway NN in Shannon County in the coming days, chances are you’re seeing the signs of a prescribed burn set up for Mill Mountain and Buzzard Mountain. This burn will take place over 1,200 acres, and is intended to reduce the amount of fire-fuels in the area, restore native ecosystems, and to improve the habitats of local fauna and flora.

This burn is being organized by Ozark National Scenic Riverways, of the National Park Service. They urge those out there who plan to be around highway NN or Klepzig Mill to watch for smoke and to be aware of vehicles, wildlife, and personnel who may be in the area or on the roads.
