JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – State Representative John Black and Senator Curtis Trent are applauding the approval of $5 million in funding for sewer improvements in the Marshfield area. Both men worked hard to get the funding inserted into the budget for the Department of Natural Resources. Signed by Governor Parson just before the start of the fiscal year in July, the funding will be part of a grant from DNR requiring a 90/10 match.
The money will be used by the city of Marshfield to develop sewer service east of the new Marshall Road Interchange. The lack of existing sewer service has stalled development of the area.
“This is a much-needed improvement for the city of Marshfield,” said Rep. Black (R – Marshfield). “The new interchange has been completed for a while, and with this improvement, further development can take place.”
“I’m pleased to have had a role in getting this funding through budget process,” added Sen. Trent (R – Webster). “It’s a small project for the state, but a huge improvement for this region.”
Now that the funding has been approved, city officials can complete the grant application and proceed with the project.
“The city of Marshfield wants to thank the Governor and the entire legislature for backing us with this investment in our community,” said City Administrator Sam Rost. “This will open up potential and opportunity for Marshfield like we’ve never seen before.”
“I’d like to thank Budget Chairmen Cody Smith and Lincoln Hough, as well as Governor Parson, for approving the budget and helping this region further its development goals,” added Rep. Black.
