Woman Dies After Canoe Accident on Spring River

A tragic accident on the Spring River claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Crista Allman was canoeing with a friend when their vessel reached the “Needles Eye” turn, a well-known narrow bend in the river. During the turn, Allman fell from the canoe and into the water. Emergency responders from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and Mammoth Spring Police Department were dispatched to the scene.

Medical personnel arrived quickly and provided life-saving aid before transporting Allman to a medical facility in neighboring Sharp County. Despite their efforts, she was later pronounced dead.

Authorities say the incident remains under investigation and is pending the results of the Medical Examiner’s report.
