AVA, Mo. — A man wanted on a Douglas County probation violation warrant was arrested April 7, 2026, in Texarkana, Arkansas, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Ross Rains was taken into custody on an active warrant for violating probation related to a prior conviction for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
According to authorities, Rains pleaded guilty on July 20, 2022, to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to six years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, with a suspended execution of sentence. Officials said a warrant was later issued on Nov. 14, 2024, after Rains allegedly violated the terms of his probation.
Rains was extradited back to Missouri and is currently being held without bond.
The original case dates back to January 2016 and was investigated by former deputies Taylor Wallace and Gabe Stroud, according to the sheriff’s office.
All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
