Carol Kay Chrisco

Carol Kay Chrisco, age 76, of Eminence, Missouri, was born to Scott and Vada (Whistler) Baird, on August 9, 1945, in Bloomfield, IA. She passed away at home with her family on February 17, 2022.

She was united in marriage to Donald Van Steenis in 1962, and to this union one son was born, Anthony Shane Van Steenis, and one daughter, Anita Kay Van Steenis. She was widowed in 1974, and in 1978, she married Terry Chrisco and relocated to Eminence, Missouri.

Carol was well-loved and admired for her heart of gold and hard work on community projects. She enjoyed playing “Smoke” aka “Fargal” the dice game, and would challenge anyone to a game of “Pitch”. She helped work at the Angelica Factory for many years as well as helping her son and daughter manage their businesses, Harvey’s Alley Spring Canoe Rental and Two Rivers Canoe Rental. She proudly served on the Eminence Chamber of Commerce as the president for years and assisted with many projects, including yearly Christmas parades and the Veterans monuments at the Shannon County Courthouse.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Scott and Vada Baird; one brother, Chris Baird; and one niece, Annette Blackwell.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Chrisco of the family home; one son, Shane Van Steenis and wife, Kim; one daughter, Anita Van Steenis; one step-son, Mark Chrisco; four grandchildren, Gary Orchard, Taylor Van Steenis, Jaxon Orchard, and Anson Orchard; one sister, Charlotte Blackwell of Iowa; and four nieces and nephews, Lisa Bish, Rhonda Fenton, Brady Baird, and Angie Hall.
