Funeral Services for Lyndel “Joe” Max DeShazo, Age 84 of Viola, Arkansas will be held on Friday, January 23rd, 2026 at The Barker Funeral Home, Salem, Arkansas beginning at 2:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and last until service time. Interment will take place in The Mount Calm Cemetery, Viola, Arkansas.

Lyndel “Joe” Max DeShazo, age 84, of Viola, Arkansas, passed away on January 18, 2026, in West Plains, Missouri. He was born on October 29, 1941, in Viola, Arkansas, to Ralph Harvey DeShazo and Marian Theda (Morton) DeShazo.

Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked for over thirty years at General Motors in Kansas City, where he served as a Union Steward and on the assembly line.

He enjoyed spending his time fishing, hunting, relaxing in the garage with friends, and having a drink while visiting. He loved dogs, old westerns, and baseball (especially the Royals and Cardinals).

Joe is survived by his children: Joe DeShazo (Cynthia) of Lees Summit, Missouri; Lyndal Turner (Kimberly) of West Plains, Missouri; Mike DeShazo (Ghale) of Blue Springs, Missouri; and daughter Melissa DeShazo of Independence, Missouri. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Madison, Garrett, Kelsey, Grady, Collin, Caleb, Cayson, Morgan, and Rowan; three great-grandchildren: Jackson, Gates, and Oakley; one brother, Bobby Dale DeShazo of Lake Texoma, Oklahoma; and two sisters, Anna Sue Coker of Springfield, Missouri, and Charlene Batterton (Gary) of Wheatland, Missouri. He will be deeply missed by many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mildred Coker.

Memorials may be made to Mount Calm Cemetery in Viola, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Brown, Leonard Dunn, Mike Koester, and Jeremy Moffatt.
