Celebrating their 100th year as a football program, Friday night the Willow Springs Bears started the 2025 campaign at home against the Mountain View Arkansas Yellowjackets.
This was the first meeting between the shcools, and prove to be a very physical game. Both the Bears and Yellowjackets would get hit hard by penalties in the first half, resulting in 20 penalties of 160 yards.
The Yellowjackets would come away with the lead at the end of the first quarter by a score of 13 to 8.
In the 2nd quarter, the Bears would come back, highlighted by a 80 yard interception ran back for a TD with just 13 seconds left in the half, giving the Bears a 22-13 lead.
The second half belonged to the Bears as they outscored the Yellowjackets 14 to 8, highlighted by a 48 yard TD run by the Bears in the 4th quarter.
The Bears pick up their first win of the season by a score of 36 – 21, and will take on Pleasnt Hope next week.
