Eddie Sanders, 81, of Ava, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on June 9, 2025.
Eddie was born on May 3, 1944, in Orange, California, to Loren Sanders and Beulah Vaughan Sanders. He was united in marriage to Sharon Vinson on June 29, 1963, and together they built a life centered on hard work, family, and faith. Sharon preceded him in death.
Eddie was a man who loved the land. He found joy in every season spent on his farm—whether haying, bulldozing, brush hogging, or simply tinkering with equipment. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed coon hunting and the quiet satisfaction of a job well done.
He is survived by his daughter Cindy Sanders of Ava, Missouri; his son Greg Sanders and his wife Jackie of Olathe, Kansas; and three grandchildren: Alexis Derritt of Lawrence, Kansas, Talan Sanders, and Leighton Sanders, both of Olathe. He is also survived by his sister JoAnn Welker and her husband Rod of Ava, and his brother Jake Sanders, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon, his parents Beulah Henley and Loren Sanders, his sister Karen Conley, and brothers Steve Sanders and Kenny Sanders.
Eddie’s legacy lives on in the family he loved and the land he cared for. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A visitation for Eddie will be Monday, June 16, 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Missouri with cremation to follow. Officiating will be Rev. Junior Hall. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in the Turkey Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Douglas County Historical Museum.
