Melbourne Site Among Arkansas Locations for Prescription Drug Take Back Day

MELBOURNE, Ark. — The Izard County Sheriff’s Office will once again take part in the upcoming Prescription Drug Take Back event on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office in Melbourne.

The statewide initiative encourages residents to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications to help prevent misuse and environmental contamination. Arkansans are urged to keep medications in a secure, locked container until they can be dropped off at a collection site.

To make it easier to locate a drop-off location, the ReviveAR app—available on both Apple and Google Play stores—includes resources and a search function to find Drug Take Back sites by name, ZIP code, or distance.

“More than half of people who misuse prescription medications obtain them from family and friends,” said Sheriff Charley Melton. “Disposing of unused medications is an easy, proactive way to safeguard our communities and foster a healthier future for all.”

For those unable to attend the October 25 event, the Izard County Sheriff’s Office offers two permanent drop boxes for year-round disposal. One is located near the main entrance at 300 Circle Drive in Melbourne, and the other is at the Sheriff’s Office Sub-Station at the rear entrance of 704 Commerce Street in Horseshoe Bend.
