Linda Jane Sanders Cottengim, 84, of Norwood, Missouri, passed away on August 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 24, 1941, at her childhood home in Norwood, Linda was the seventh child of eight of Marion Harrison Sanders and Margaret Jane (Sparks) Sanders. From an early age, she was known for her kindness, faith, and willingness to serve others – a legacy she carried throughout her life.
On February 27, 1960, she married the love of her life, Bobby Donel “Bob” Cottengim. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith. Their marriage was one of devotion, and their home was always open to family, friends, and neighbors who needed a place to feel welcome.
Linda devoted her life to her family and community. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Marie Manning; her son, Bobby Lynn Cottengim and wife, Tracy; and her grandchildren, Tim Wiyrick and wife, Jessica, Kevin Wiyrick, Ethan Wiyrick, Ashlynne Goldman and husband, Marcus, and Jordan Marion and husband, Tyler. Her great-grandchildren – Hudson, Jrue, Collins, Crew, Devon, Dylan, Delaney, Delilah and David – were her pride and joy. She treasured every moment spent with them as “Grandma Linda.”
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob Cottengim, and her daughters, Pamela Kay Cottengim and Denise Diane Cottengim.
In addition to her love for family, Linda gave generously of her time and talents. She led a 4-H club, coached Bobby’s little league team, and served as PTA president, where her leadership and dedication positively impacted countless families. Linda’s compassion extended beyond her own home – she faithfully cared for elderly neighbors, including the Hatfields, Andersons, and Allens, offering help, comfort, and friendship. Linda and Bob also met and established many lifelong friendships as a result of their mowing business.
Linda enjoyed deer hunting and mushroom hunting, tending to her garden, and picking countless gallons of blackberries which she often sold or gave to family and friends to enjoy. Indoors, she enjoyed talking with friends on the CB radio, working on puzzles of every kind, crocheting, sewing, and creating beautiful quilts and blankets that her family will treasure for generations. Each project reflected her love, patience, and creativity.
Her faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life. As a devoted member of Mt. Zion
Freewill Baptist Church for over 70 years, she found strength, fellowship, and opportunities to serve. Her unwavering trust in God and her gentle, servant heart were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Linda is also survived by extended family and many friends who will deeply miss her.
Linda’s earthly journey has ended, but her love, generosity, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She was a blessing to her family, her community, and her church, and her memory will be cherished forever.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Curtis Cemetery.
